The problem

The app crashed most for the people with the oldest phones, which were also the customers it was built for.

What I did

I moved balance and payment state out of the screens into one store that both platforms share, then tested on the five worst phones we could buy.

What changed

99.9% of sessions end without a crash, up from 98.1%, and sign-up takes under four minutes.
